Bar Lights

Bar lights are used in machine vision systems when a directional and extended illumination field is required over larger inspection areas. Their linear geometry allows light to be projected under controlled angles across the object, making them suitable for enhancing contrast on edges, textures, and surface variations. In practice, this makes bar lights effective for conveyor-based inspection where uniform coverage and directional contrast are both required.

The performance depends strongly on mounting angle, working distance, and light overlap; a shallow angle increases sensitivity to surface defects, while a more direct angle improves uniformity but reduces contrast. A common mistake is using a single bar light over wide fields, leading to intensity fall-off and non-uniform detection. Combining multiple bar lights or adjusting positioning is often required to maintain consistent illumination across the full field of view.

Bar lights are widely used for surface inspection, edge detection, and object detection in automated systems. In combination with an appropriate camera and lens, they provide stable illumination over large areas, where selection depends on inspection width, required contrast, and mechanical integration. Our bar lights offer high intensity and uniformity for reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.
