Spot Lighting

Spot lighting is used in machine vision systems to illuminate a small inspection area with high intensity and a focused beam. By concentrating the light, a high irradiance is achieved locally, allowing fine details, markings, and small defects to become visible even at short exposure times. In practice, this makes spot lighting suitable when standard illumination cannot deliver sufficient light density on small features.

Its performance strongly depends on working distance, beam angle, and camera viewing angle; an overly small spot can cause hotspots or saturation, while a wider beam reduces contrast. In applications such as electronics inspection, laser mark detection, and robot vision, spot lighting is used to selectively enhance specific regions without affecting the entire image.

Combined with an appropriate lens and sensor—matched to field of view and resolution—spot lighting, when properly aligned and within the sensor’s dynamic range, increases local light intensity. Under the right conditions, this results in a higher signal-to-noise ratio on small structures. Our range includes industrial LED spot lights in various power levels, beam angles, and wavelengths, where selection is directly linked to working distance, spot size, and required light intensity.
