COOLENS DTCM230 Bi-Telecentric Machine Vision Lenses for 2/3" Sensors

The COOLENS DTCM230 series consists of bi-telecentric machine vision lenses designed for industrial cameras with sensors up to 2/3" and a maximum sensor diagonal of 11.4 mm. These lenses are developed for precise optical measurements and inspection applications requiring constant magnification, low optical distortion and reliable edge definition.

The bi-telecentric optical design minimizes perspective errors by maintaining nearly constant magnification when the object distance changes slightly. The series has a specified optical distortion of less than 0.1% and telecentricity of less than 0.1°. This makes the lenses suitable for dimensional inspection, diameter and width measurements, edge detection and precise product positioning.

The DTCM230 series includes 20 models with object-side FOV diagonals ranging from 26 to 300 mm. Optical magnification ranges from 0.438x to 0.038x, with working distances from 73 to 465 mm depending on the model. All lenses feature a standard C-mount camera interface.

Bi-telecentric optics for dimensional measurements

With conventional lenses, the apparent size of an object changes when its distance from the camera changes. DTCM230 lenses reduce this perspective effect through telecentricity on both the object side and the image side. This is particularly useful when inspecting components with small height variations or differences in positioning. For demanding measurement applications, calibration of the complete camera system remains necessary.

Field of view, magnification and optical resolution

Lens selection starts with the required field of view and camera sensor size. The DTCM230-26 has an optical magnification of 0.438x, while the DTCM230-300-AL provides 0.038x. Higher magnification produces a smaller field of view with finer object-side pixel resolution. Depending on the model, specified image-side MTF30 values range from greater than 130 to greater than 190 lp/mm. Optical resolution should be matched to the camera pixel size and the required inspection accuracy.

Working distance and mechanical mounting

Working distances range from 73 to 465 mm. Mechanical dimensions and weight also vary significantly between models. The DTCM230-26 weighs approximately 0.3 kg, while the DTCM230-300-AL weighs approximately 46.6 kg. Larger lenses require rigid mechanical mounting to prevent deflection and vibration. Available installation space and the required depth of field should also be considered during lens selection.
