What will we cover?
The exact content of the training depends on the selected application and the available 3D data. Topics may include:
Defining the application requirements and inspection criteria
Understanding 3D point clouds and coordinate systems
Evaluating point cloud quality and data resolution
Defining regions of interest
Filtering and preprocessing 3D data
Removing backgrounds and reference surfaces
Plane, edge and geometric feature detection
Height and distance measurements
Object segmentation
Position and orientation determination
Alignment and coordinate transformations
Building the application in the selected 3D machine vision software
Testing with representative 3D datasets
Evaluating and optimizing the results
Preparation
Before the training, we discuss your application during an online intake. Together we define the inspection, measurement or positioning task and determine which 3D data is required for the training.
Representative 3D point clouds must be available before the training. These can be supplied by the customer or prepared separately in advance. Based on the available data, we assess whether the application fits within the scope of the training and determine which software and datasets are required.
Good to know
The aim of the training is to teach your engineers how to develop a practical 3D machine vision application using existing point cloud data.
Testing, comparing, selecting or commissioning 3D sensors is not part of this training. Sensor installation, sensor configuration and the acquisition of new 3D data during the training are also not included.
Because 3D machine vision can use different sensor technologies, such as laser triangulation, structured light, stereo vision and Time-of-Flight, the training focuses on processing and using the resulting 3D data rather than on one specific sensor technology.
Complete machine integration, PLC programming, mechanical design, formal validation and delivery of a production-ready application are not included.
Additional engineering, sensor evaluation or feasibility testing can be offered separately if required.
Do it yourself. But not alone.
